Professional Exhibition Centre Management Company Pleased with Initial Year of Operation in Zhengzhou

(29 June 2007, Zhengzhou , China ) Hong Kong-Shanghai Venue Management ( Zhengzhou ) Limited (VMZL) has expressed its pleasure with the initial year of management and operation of the Zhengzhou International Convention and Exhibition Centre (ZZICEC) in Henan Province , PRC.
VMZL assumed its responsibilities for total management and operation of the 227,600 sqm venue in June 2006. Zhengzhou is the largest city within China ’s Central Plain region with some 250 million inhabitants living within an hour’s flight. It is a rail and highway hub for Central China . A new international airport terminal and ongoing enhancements to the city’s infrastructure are fuelling interest in the region’s foreign development and investment. A 5-star hotel adjacent to the ZZICEC is under construction. It will be operated by Marriott and was designed by Skidmore Owens and Merrill (SOM) in Chicago .

The ZZICEC hosted 63 events during the first year of VMZL’s management, including 18 exhibitions. Estimated total attendance for all events was nearly one(1) million. The largest exhibition held was the 56th China International Medical Fair (CMEF) and 3rd International Component Manufacturing & Design Show (ICMD) in October 2006 utilizing 82,000 sqm for 4 days. The largest conference was the prestigious 2nd Expo Central China 2007 drawing 45,000 delegates and senior government officials including Vice Premier of the State Council, WU Yi.
Cliff Wallace, VMZL Chairman, cited pleasure with the company’s performance acknowledging the strength of the resources of VMZL’s joint venture companies affiliated with the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and Intex Shanghai. He credited the leadership of ZZICEC’s General Manager, Andrew Garcia and the committed operating team he is leading at the venue. He also recognised the tremendous support of Zhengzhou ’s Municipal Government and Party officials as well as the Chairman of Zhengzhou International Convention and Exhibition Company Limited (ZCL), YUE Zeng Pu.
Wallace said, “I am pleased that VMZL’s professional management continues to raise the standards of staff performance, the level of client services, the venue’s awareness to potential clients nationally and internationally, and the marketing and sales efforts. I am confident this will become one of the premier venues of China ’s middle markets in four to five years.
The ZZICEC is a new exhibition and convention centre in a newly developed business district of Zhengzhou between the CBD and Zhengzhou ’s airport. It has been managed by VMZL since 1 June 2006. VMZL provided consultation to ZCL on the ZZICEC from September 2005. The exhibition portion of the ZZICEC includes two (2) major exhibits halls with a total rentable area of 66,000 sq m and there exists an additional 38,000 sq m of outdoor exhibition area. The convention portion of the ZZICEC includes the Grand Hall seating up to 3,160 persons, the International Theatre seating 1,090 persons, two (2) smaller theatres and related break-out space for meetings, conferences and hospitality functions.
