USD12.4 billion Foreign Investment Projects were contracted at the 2nd Expo Central China in ZZICEC

(20 June 2007 - Zhengzhou , China ) The 2nd Expo Central China held in the Zhengzhou International Convention and Exhibition Centre (ZZICEC) from 26 to 28 April 2007 was completed in great success. More than 45,000 visitors including foreign and regional delegates gathered at the ZZICEC to explore trade and investment opportunities in the six central provinces in China namely Henan , Anhui , Shanxi , Jiangxi , Hubei and Hunan . The 3-day event proved to be one of the best exhibitions and conventions organised in ZZICEC since its opening in 2005.
The 2nd Expo Central China was officially commenced by Wu Yi, Member of the Political Bureau and Vice Premier of the State Council. Participants were the top government leaders from different countries and CEOs of international corporations. They included the Vice Chairman of National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Zhang Siqing, Chairman of Monetary Authority of Singapore, Goh Chok Tong, Chief Executive of HKSAR, Donald Tsang, Chief Executive of Macau, Edmund Ho, and 315 Fortune 500 enterprises such as Microsoft, Intel, P&G, GE, Siemens, Disney, Coca Cola, Motorola, Federal Express,Nokia, Toshiba, Wal-Mart, etc. Such a high-profile event was the first and foremost among the events ever held in ZZICEC.

Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, Ma Xiuhong applauded the achievements of this prestigious event in the closing ceremony. The participants were impressed by the magnificent architecture of ZZICEC, its multi-functional design and the professional and efficient services offered by the staff of the Centre making ZZICEC the ideal venue to stage the 2nd Expo Central China. The warm hospitality extended by the people in Zhengzhou and the exceptional service standard of the hotels also contributed to the success of the event. The positive feedback from the participants demonstrates Zhengzhou ’s full potential of hosting international exhibitions and conventions.
During the 2nd Expo Central China, there were 196 direct foreign investment projects being signed with contractual foreign capital amounting to USD12.374 billion. Participated enterprises collectively signed export deal with contract amount USD920 million and internal trade with contractual amount RMB2.996 billion. The event had attracted 1,288 journalists from different countries in which 277 came from overseas.
ZZICEC is a new exhibition and convention centre in a newly developed business district of Zhengzhou between the CBD and Zhengzhou ’s airport. It has been managed by VMZL since 1 June 2006. VMZL provided consultation to ZCL on the ZZICEC from September 2005. The exhibition portion of the ZZICEC includes two (2) major exhibits halls with a total rentable area of 66,000 sq m and there exists an additional 38,000 sq m of outdoor exhibition area. The convention portion of the ZZICEC includes the Grand Hall seating up to 3,160 persons, the International Theatre seating 1,090 persons, two (2) smaller theatres and related break-out space for meetings, conferences and hospitality functions.
